Frontporch via Tiptoe Slab (5.2S)
February 21, 2011
After climbing the First Flatiron (North Arete) two days before, Jen and I went back for another Flatiron classic. The air was a crisp 28 degrees at the car and the trees were coated in a layer of morning frost. The approach was fast and the trail was only coated in ice in a few places. The first pitch was close to 150 feet and was only protected by a single bolt halfway up. As the rock was warmed by the sun and it felt good on our hands. The second pitch was a rope stretcher and also did not readily offer protection. A short scramble later and we stood atop Frontporch. The views were fabulous and the familiar Backporch loomed above us. A great end to the holiday weekend.
