Elephant Butte via the West Fins (5.3)

A post-school family visit to Arches NP was the ideal time to plot a return trip to the park's highpoint. My dad was interested and I thought it would a perfect time to spend some time with him. After sorting through all the route-finding issues the previous summer, I knew it would be a snap to find our way through the confusing path that twists its way up onto the summit. The route is very engaging, not obvious and even offers a rappel on the ascent. My dad breezed through it like a pro and performed his first (and second rappels) ever with ease. This is a tremendous route and is one of my favorite places to visit.
